Featured Speakers and Presentations

​Bridging the Digital Literacy Gap in Underserved Communities
Mick Schutz, MS Mathematics, MS Electrical Engineering, Professor of Mathematics, and Lina Castro, MS, MBA, Fashion Merchandising Program Director at Immaculata University, will address digital inequities affecting underserved populations—particularly Delaware’s Latino community. Their presentation explores systemic barriers, proposes targeted solutions, and highlights the power of digital empowerment to create a more inclusive and equitable society.

 

Delaware Charter School Network – Student Voices in Digital Learning

Kendall Massett, Executive Director of the Delaware Charter Schools Network, will be joined by student leaders Bella Crisci of Sussex Academy and Sophia Whyte of the Charter School of Wilmington. Together, they will share insights into policy, innovation, and the transformative role of student voice in shaping digital learning in K–12 education.

Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration (CILC)
Allyson Mitchell, Director of Partnership & Engagement, will highlight how CILC connects classrooms globally through immersive, interactive virtual experiences that expand access and collaboration across educational boundaries.

Trauma-Informed Practices in Education
Dr. Nichol Killian, Director of Advising and Academic Support, will explore trauma-informed teaching strategies designed to support student well-being, engagement, and persistence in both digital and face-to-face environments.

Development and the Challenges of Advancing Digital Learning in Denmark
Henrik Vestergaard, Former Member of Parliament in Denmark and Lecturer (M.Sc., Business Economics and Administration), will share an international perspective on how Denmark continues to evolve its digital learning infrastructure from primary to higher education, including national policies and classroom-level implementation.

Partner Spotlight — Stukent: Bridging Education and Real-World Marketing Practice
Representatives from Stukent, an educational technology company, will demonstrate how real-world marketing simulations and digital textbooks are transforming experiential learning. The session will show how students use Stukent’s live-data tools to develop strategic thinking and digital marketing skills aligned with workforce demands.

Digital Learning & Workplace Transformation (Virtual Session)
Dr. Michele Barber, Director of the Prevention Integration Office, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Manpower & Reserve Affairs), will present on the intersection of digital learning, leadership, and adaptability in evolving work environments. Drawing from her academic research and federal leadership experience, Dr. Barber will offer strategies for fostering community, resilience, and effectiveness in hybrid and digital spaces.
